This policy explains what personal data goback.in collects when you use our platform — whether as a traveller discovering experiences or an organizer listing them — and how we handle, store, and protect that data. We operate under Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

1. Who We Are

goback.in is operated by The Golthi Company, a company registered in India. We run an online platform that connects travellers with independent outdoor experience organizers across India — including treks, safaris, farm stays, rafting, stargazing camps, and more.

When this policy says "we", "us", or "our", it refers to The Golthi Company and the goback.in platform.

2. What Personal Data We Collect

We collect different types of data depending on how you use the platform:

From travellers (people browsing or showing interest):

✦- Name, email address, and phone/WhatsApp number when you submit interest in an experience

✦- Number of persons travelling

✦- Messages sent through the platform or to organizers

✦- Device, browser, and usage data when you visit the site (via cookies and analytics)

From organizers (people listing experiences):

✦- Full name, tribe/brand name, email, and WhatsApp number during signup

✦- Experience details: title, description, location, dates, pricing, photos, group sizes

✦- Activation and account credentials managed via Supabase Auth

Automatically collected:

✦- IP address and approximate location

✦- Pages visited, time spent, and actions taken on the platform

✦- Device type, operating system, and browser version

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your personal data to:

✦- Facilitate connections — share your interest details (name, email, phone, persons) with the relevant organizer so they can confirm your spot

✦- Send confirmation messages — deliver WhatsApp notifications via AiSensy when you show interest in an experience

✦- Manage organizer accounts — send activation emails, manage dashboard access, and process new experience listings

✦- Improve the platform — analyze how people use goback.in to improve search, discovery, and the overall experience

✦- Prevent fraud and abuse — detect and block suspicious activity

✦- Comply with legal obligations — retain records as required under Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023

We do not use your data for unrelated marketing without your explicit consent.

5. WhatsApp Communications

By submitting interest in an experience, you consent to receiving a WhatsApp message from goback.in confirming your interest details. This message is sent via the Meta WhatsApp Business API through our provider AiSensy.

The organizer of the experience may also contact you directly via WhatsApp using the phone number you provide — this is part of the experience confirmation process.

If you do not wish to receive WhatsApp messages, you may opt out by replying STOP to any message or contacting us at connect@goback.in.

6. Payments

goback.in is currently an interest-capture and lead-connection platform. We do not process or store payment card or banking information.

Payment arrangements, if any, are made directly between travellers and organizers outside the platform. You should exercise the same caution you would with any private transaction.

7. Cookies & Tracking

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and maintain session state (via Supabase Auth). We may also use analytics tools to understand how visitors use the site.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect your ability to log in or use certain features.

We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies.

8. How Long We Keep Your Data

✦- Interest submissions — retained for as long as the associated experience is active, and up to 2 years thereafter for organizer records

✦- Organizer accounts — retained for the life of the account plus 3 years after closure

✦- Financial and transaction records — retained for up to 8 years in accordance with Indian accounting and tax laws

✦- Server and access logs — typically retained for 90 days

You may request deletion of your data at any time (see Section 9).

9. Your Rights Under Indian Law

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA) and applicable Indian law, you have the right to:

✦- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you

✦- Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data

✦- Deletion — request erasure of your data (subject to legal retention requirements)

✦- Withdraw consent — stop receiving WhatsApp or email communications at any time

✦- Nominate — designate a nominee to exercise your rights in case of death or incapacity

To exercise any of these rights, email us at connect@goback.in with your name and the email or phone number you used on the platform. We will respond within 30 days.

10. Children's Privacy

goback.in is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted data through our platform, please contact us immediately at connect@goback.in and we will delete it promptly.

11. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal data:

✦- All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS

✦- Database access is restricted to authenticated services using Supabase Row Level Security

✦- API keys and credentials are stored as server-side environment variables, never exposed in the browser

✦- Access to production systems is limited to authorized personnel on a need-to-know basis

No system is completely secure. If you believe your data has been compromised, contact us immediately at connect@goback.in.

12. Third-Party Links

Organizer tribe pages and experience listings may contain links to third-party websites or WhatsApp conversations. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before sharing personal information.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify organizers by email.

Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
